John Burk’s Battle of Bunker Hill – and the Death of General Warren premieres in Boston.

Written by “A Bostonian,” the play is first performed at the Haymarket Theater. It is subsequently performed in New York. After attending a performance, President John Adams tells the actor who played the part of General Warren, “Sir, my friend, General Warren, was a scholar and a gentleman, but your author has made him a bully and a blackguard.”
